Jake Taylor - RASV Member and Beef Cattle Exhibitor

With a swag of blue ribbons and trophies under his belt, 19-year-old Jake Taylor of Hamilton (pictured right below) is already a well-respected beef shorthorn exhibitor.

Jake started exhibiting at agricultural shows and the Royal Melbourne Show in 2007, thriving on the challenge of the competitions.

After attending the 2007 National Shorthorn Heifer Expo on a South Australian Shorthorn Youth scholarship, Jake has won a number of Junior Champion and Reserve Junior Heifer competitions.

Now in Sydney working on a Charolais stud, Jake says his success at the Royal Melbourne Show has built his reputation within the beef industry, increasing the value of his herd and opening doors for him interstate.

“The Melbourne Royal has helped build my career and I’ve made some great mates who come to the Show each year,” said Jake.

Jake has been a Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) Member for the past four years, reducing the cost of entry into competitions and providing him a connection to other exhibitors and an established group of likeminded friends that he engages with throughout the year.

When he returns to Hamilton at the end of May, Jake intends to bring the skills he is learning up north to his exhibits, before heading to University in 2014 to study agribusiness.
