About Heritage Department

RASV has promoted the development of and inspired excellence in Victorian agriculture for more than 165 years.

Since the first ploughing match held by The Pastoral and Agricultural Society of Australia Felix in 1841, the Royal Melbourne Show has evolved into Victoria’s largest annual community event.

With a long and proud history, RASV has become synonymous with world-class competitions and award programs, which continue to grow and inspire excellence year on year.

The RASV Heritage Team oversees a unique collection of artefacts and stories representing the organisation’s rich history, which are often displayed onsite at Melbourne Showgrounds, in online exhibitions and at the Royal Melbourne Show.
