Melbourne’s newest tier one event space, Victoria Pavilion, officially open

The Honorable Martin Pakula has officially opened the brand new Victoria Pavilion at Melbourne Showgrounds, Melbourne’s largest and most versatile indoor-outdoor event space.

Having already hosted nine events including the Global Table Conference, AFL Women’s Draft, the United Firefighters Union Gala Dinner and the Royal Melbourne Show Art, Craft & Cookery Competition, the size and versatility of the space has been a standout during the first two months of use.

Thrilled with the official launch of the new space, incoming CEO of The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria, Mr. Brad Jenkins, was pleased to bring a new banquet-style event space to Melbourne.

“The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria invested $8.5 million into developing a function and event space focused on customer needs as part of our overall vision for Melbourne Showgrounds.”

Speaking about the versatility of the space to the crowd of 150 guests, Mr. Jenkins was excited for what was in store for the new venue and Melbourne Showgrounds.

“The Victoria Pavilion provides a stylish, new versatile function space that can accommodate up to guests for a banquet style setting or 1200 guests for a cocktail or theatre-style event, Melbourne Showgrounds is the amazing new venue to hold a function or exhibition.”

The newly expanded event space totaling 2,500 sqm features a pillar-less 1,950sqm room ideal for functions, conferences and exhibitions along with a new 600sqm glass foyer.

The venue boasts an outstanding food offering designed by Melbourne Showgrounds Executive Chef, Neil Rocke, that incorporates award-winning products from the Australian Food Awards in almost every dish delivered to guests.

“Melbourne Showgrounds hosts many events, trade shows and festivals, but we know the venue can do and be more. The Victoria Pavilion will open up so many opportunities for event managers, not only locally in Melbourne but also nationally and internationally,” said Mr. Jenkins.

Around 1 million visitors annually attend events at Melbourne Showgrounds including the Royal Melbourne Show, Victoria’s largest and most iconic annual community event, which will be held next year Saturday 19 to Tuesday 29 September at Melbourne Showgrounds.
