Vale Margaret McIver

The RASV Board, management and staff were saddened to learn of the passing of Margaret McIver, passing away on 21 July 2020 at the age of 86.

Margaret was Australia's first Olympic dressage rider, competing at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games.

With a lifetime of involvement in the equestrian industry, Margaret first competed in show jumping and eventing before switched to dressage. She was a familiar face at the Royal Melbourne Show and competed for many years, most notably on her show jumping horse ‘Bonanza’.

Margaret was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Ballarat in 2007 in recognition of her contribution to dressage in Australia as an Olympic competitor, and dressage coach and judge.

Our sincere condolences and sympathy to Margaret’s family and friends.
