Why Should I Enter?

The Alpaca Youth Competition takes place each year at the Royal Melbourne Show, with young competitors leading alpacas through a short obstacle course and competing for the champion.

All youths aged from seven to under 26 can compete in the competition with classes for junior, intermediate, senior.

This year will feature three agility courses and the ever popular fancy dress.

The alpacas are judged on trainability and presentation by an experienced judge appointed by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) alpaca committee. The Youth Paraders are awarded Champion and Reserve Champion for each age group.

With fun alpaca-related activities for the public on the day of the show, the competition is also a unique opportunity for the public to get up close to these friendly, long-necked creatures.
