Why Should I Enter?

The Alpaca Youth Paraders Competition takes place each year at the Royal Melbourne Show, with young competitors leading alpacas through a short obstacle course and competing for the champion.

All youths aged from seven to under 22 can compete in the competition with classes for junior, intermediate, senior.

Kitted out in smart entire, youth paraders compete in the competition’s showmanship and stockmanship sections, obtaining points for presentation.

The alpacas are judged on trainability and presentation by an experienced judge appointed by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) alpaca committee. The best Youth Paraders are awarded Trainer and Supreme during the competition.

With fun alpaca-related activities for the public on the day of the show, the competition is also a unique opportunity for the public to get up close to these friendly, long-necked creatures.

The Alpaca Youth Paraders Competition is run by RASV, in conjunction with the Australian Alpaca Association.
