History

The Royal Melbourne Show Art, Craft & Cookery Competition is more than 100 years old.

Today’s competition originates from another called ‘Women’s Industries’, which when it was introduced to the Show in 1911, had just 172 entries.

Today visitors to the Art, Craft & Cookery Pavilion at the Show can not only see thousands of exhibits on display, but also enjoy interactive experiences and presentations from master makers.

You will see the traditional entries including pickles, preserves, painting and crochet, but each year new and innovative classes are added to respond to industry trends, such as selfies, 3D printing, kimchi and more.
