Head of Attractions

The Head of Attractions is responsible for the planning and execution of entertainment and attractions – all of which support the vision to bring world-class programs to RASV events.

You will be required to undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop and manage high quality entertainment and attraction programs, along with associated technical management for all events;
  • Prepare and manage substantial budgets;
  • Manage all attractions contractors for all events;
  • Work with the Marketing department to promote and launch feature entertainment;
  • Monitor, review and rectify OH&S issues and risk across the Melbourne Showgrounds site with regard to attractions contractors;
  • Co-ordinate and manage the bump-in and bump-out of the entertainers, performers, equipment and personnel within the Showgrounds, working closely with relevant RASV contractors and personnel as required.
  • Oversee the management of rides and Showbags, including selection, placement, negotiation and delivery.

Head of Attractions - Position Description

 

Major Events Manager, Amusements

Responsible for the delivery of the complete amusements program for the Royal Melbourne Show (RMS) which includes large-scale rides, sideshow games and Showbags.  In addition, the role will also manage some events held at Melbourne Showgrounds.

You will be required to undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Planning and managing the selection and engagement of compelling, high quality rides and sideshow games.
  • Manage the placement of rides and games to maximise the visitor experience;
  • Manage relationships with Showbag, ride and sideshow game operators;
  • Manage the safe and effective bump-in/out of Amusements;
  • Manage the Showbag testing process in collaboration with external authorities;
  • Effectively prepare and manage budgets;
  • Work with the OH&S Manager to minimise risk;
  • Undertake administration required for the management of Amusements;
  • Work with the Marketing department to promote feature Amusements;
  • Effectively prepare annual business plans and regular progress reports.

Major Events Manager, Food & Beverage

Responsible for the delivery of the key epicurean precincts of Royal Melbourne Show (RMS) and other RASV events, including The Winning Tastes Pavilion and The Meadow, all of which support the vision to bring high quality food and beverage offerings to RASV events.

You will be required to undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Develop concept, layout and styling of precincts;
  • Effectively prepare and manage budgets to achieve targets;
  • Manage the safe and effective bump-in/out of precincts including all operational elements;
  • Undertake administration required for the management of precincts;
  • Work with the Marketing department to promote feature catering precincts;
  • Effectively prepare annual business plans and regular progress reports;
  • Support the Venue Services team in managing Melbourne Showground venue clients.

Major Events Manager, Food & Beverage - Position Description

  

Equestrian Event Coordinator

Responsible for the effective day-to-day coordination of the equestrian events and programs within the portfolio. Key duties includes:

  • the planning, administration and delivery of competitions, entertainment and events, including; database management, the preparation of timetables, schedules, selection of judges, invitations and marketing collateral
  • the coordination of the pavilion layout
  • planning and supervising the arrival and departure of exhibitors and horses
  • providing support and coordination to key stakeholders including committee members, judges, stewards and exhibitors
  • management of judging panels 
  • ensuring competitions are in accordance with Regulations and maintains the integrity and reputation of the RASV.

Equestrian Event Coordinator - Position Description

 

Occupational Health and Safety Coordinator

Responsible for assisting the OH&S Manager with the development and maintenance of the RASV’s plans and specific programs to ensure compliance with OH&S legislative requirements and RASV policies, and creating a safe and healthy work environment. Key duties includes:

  • Consult, engage and monitor contractor and third party activities with respective stakeholders, provide feedback and collaboratively manage identified issues
  • Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders Contractors, Safety Staff, Event operations Staff, Police and Emergency Services and Security to ensure that issues raised are appropriately addressed
  • Carry out planned inspections, audits, monitoring and testing of critical plans, procedures and practices
  • Be an active presence across the event site, conducting regular walk-arounds, safety inspections and identify safety concerns and risk issues
  • Develop reports, presentations and OH&S topics in collaboration with the OH&S Manager.
  • Actively participate in formal and informal communication to increase and enhance the understanding and awareness of OH&S issues
  • Develop and review system documentation through schedules or plans
  • Coordinate and deliver OH&S training programs
